So I’ve been keeping a secret for the past eight weeks and I am pretty sure from these photos you’ve already guessed what it is.  On April 5th I got engaged to my boyfriend Shaun. Remember I mentioned him in this post. He completely surprised me.

The Proposal

My proposal wasn’t anything like I imagined it would be and I wouldn’t have changed a thing (except what I was wearing). I went through so many emotions…confusion, shock, and happiness in a matter of seconds. I never thought I’d be the person to cry during my engagement but the tears flowed instantly. I don’t even remember anything Shaun said, it’s like everything stopped. His mouth was moving but I was so emotional I didn’t hear anything he said except “will you marry me”. I just smiled as I typed that, lol.

After I said yes, there were hugs, kisses, and champagne. Of course, I had to take a million pictures of my ring to commemorate the moment. Thankfully, Shaun had arranged for someone to record the moment for us. Which ended up being very funny because of my confusion and potty mouth.

I face-timed my family and friends to share the good news. There’s no better feeling than having your loved ones share in your excitement. The happiness everyone had for me made me feel amazing. Of course, everyone immediately wanted to know if we had set a date, more on that in future blog posts. Of course, we didn’t decide anything immediately.  We were focused on being in the moment with each other.

Our Story

Shaun and I met on Instagram, yep he sent me a DM. Initially, I wasn’t going to respond to him. I was kinda over dating at the moment. However, my best friend encouraged me to respond and go out with him. I agreed but not before I hit him with a barrage of questions which he answered. Several days later we met at a coffee shop and talked for hours. He asked to see me again the next night and the day after that.

After our first date, we were pretty much inseparable. Which felt unreal to me. I have dealt with my share of f-boys and didn’t have much faith that good guys still existed. Two weeks after our first date he asked me to be his girlfriend. Since then we’ve had our ups and down which included a break up that lasted a little over four months. I didn’t think we were going to reconnect. I’m stubborn as hell, thankfully my fiance isn’t and he’s the reason we got back together. He reached out to me and we had a very candid conversation which is exactly what we needed to get back on track.

Wedding Planning

Planning a wedding is stressful. The end. I’ll share more about our wedding in future posts titled “I Do! Round 2”. I am excited to have an opportunity to do this a second time and actually enjoy the process this time.

Can you guess what I am most excited about?

It took me meeting a transport from Jersey, lol. These guys down here had me worn out and tired.

  4. Congratulations on your engagement! I’ve been married for 8 years. The biggest advice I can give to you is keep the details or your relationship and marriage private. It’s okay to share but limit what you share. Keep both sides (husband & wife family) out of your business and move as far away as possible for both family. This will allow you two to depend on one another.

Many blessings to your future union.!

Thank you Jessica. We are both private people so that won’t be an issue. We also don’t live close to family. I kinda wish I was closer. I am also naturally independent been on my own since I was 17 so no issue there either lol. I wish I had family I could depend on sometimes.

  5. Congratulations!!! Wishing you much love, happiness, and fun together!!
