It wasn’t too long ago that I was sharing this post about being lady-like and wearing proper undergarments.  Here I am now showing off my undergarments in public, again! If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I started indulging in the sheer dress trend last June.  I tested the waters by wearing this crochet dress to a South Beach event without the slip, check it out here.

Grown Folks Clothes

When I first saw the sheer dress trend I knew it wasn’t for me.  I mean really, where the heck would I wear a sheer dress? Over time it grew on me and before I knew I had collected a few that were just sitting in my closet waiting to be worn. Of course, living in Miami you don’t need an occasion to bare it all, anything goes here.

So here I am rocking this sheer dress I purchased from Forever 21 with my new favorite distressed jeans from Oldnavy and a faux suede moto jacket.  This might be the most daring outfit I’ve shared on my blog to date and I love it!  There’s nothing wrong with being daring with your outfits.  This ended up being the perfect date outfit.

Oldnavy Rockstar Jeans

I will probably dedicate an entire review to Old Navy’s Rockstar Jeans.  I don’t what changes they have made since the last pair I owned but they have improved significantly.  I’ve purchased three pairs in the past month.  The fit on the mid-rise and high-rise jeans are amazing! If you are a curvy girl you should check them out.  I still love my Old Navy’s curvy skinny jeans but these are my new faves.

Are you into daring outfits? If so, would you try the sheer trend?

  1. Clutches my pearls!!! LOL I have some health and fitness goals to meet before I could see myself baring it all. I have to start with baby steps – like that gorgeous dress in your stay true to yourself post! You look amazing and your confidence is oozing out of this photo. Love it!

Thank you, Michelle! I started with baby steps, literally walking every day at the park. Then I moved on to working with a trainer until I was confident enough to conquer the gym on my own.

  2. Most people would probably see this trend as sexy but I actually think it looks super cute. It reminds me so much of tutus or princess dresses hahaha I’d love to wear something like that but I never had the guts to actually buy something sheer, part of it because I was scared of wearing it but also because everything seems overpriced when we’re talking about something sheer, is it just me?

You are correct about this trend being over priced which is why I passed on so many items. However, this dress was only $12 so I knew it was meant for me.

  3. You are poppin girl!! This whole outfit is amazing. I love that you stepped out of your comfort zone last year and you’re bringing it into the new year with this sheer dreas turned shirt. As alaways, you’re such an inspiration! ❤️

Come thru for all the curvy girls…..I wouldn’t of never attempted to wear a shear dress because I’m “pear shaped.” but I swear you gave me “instant confidence.” .I will be going to the store this weekend….getting the whole outfit. Also, I was kind of skeptical about wearing the “rock star jeans” from Old Navy. I always gravitated toward the curvy. Now, I’m going to try on a pair and see what happens…..LOL.

I can’t say thanks enough for the wonderful blogs/vlogs…..LOVE IT! CAN YOU DO SOME BLOGS ABOUT PAMPERING YOURSELF?

These jeans are everything! I was surprised at how well they fit. I thought the same thing which is why it took me so long to try the trend and now I am hooked. And yes I do have some self-care post planned.

  5. I love the outfit cousin, you look classy. I’m going to check out those old navy jeans and you know I don’t like pants lol.

  6. It looks like a skirt to me. I like. I’ve always liked sheer clothing and it was a substantial part of my wardrobe in the 90’s. Lol. Risque is awesome. Blm

  7. Love the sheer looks you have been rocking. I have some fitness goals to accomplish but I totally love the crotchet dress you wore. You inspired me to bare a little skin even at my weight. I can do it classy. Ideas are rolling as I type this message. You’re an idol to me and I love your style. Keep giving to us. You’re awesome.

  8. Hey, Shea! I just found your blog and it’s awesome! I’m loving your South Florida Style! As for the sheer trend, I just can’t get into it. I am not really comfortable showing that much skin, but do you boo! If you are confident in that trend, then strut like the queen you rare. To each it’s own! By the way, I’m loving that jacket.

  9. You look great Shea!!! I think it’s a good idea to switch it up every once in a while. We’re constantly evolving and so should our style. And yes I would wear “sheer anything” if my stomach looked like yours! Work it girl!
