| Blazer – H&M | Skirt – Target | Pumps – Guess | Purse – Zara |

Last week I participated in the #HERmovment twitter chat on Workplace Fashion Do’s and Don’ts.  One of the first questions presented was: “How can you subtly incorporate trends into your workplace attire?  My response was: “I usually make sure the trend works with a classic piece”.

Not every trend will work at the office but there are several that will.  For example, I know you guys have seen those amazing monochromatic pencil skirt outfits floating around IG and Pinterest, examples here and here.  Of course you can’t stroll into the office wearing a crop top and skin tight ankle length pencil skirt.  You can however put on an appropriate skirt and matching blazer to create your own monochromatic look that is perfect for the office.

I honestly was hesitant about wearing this much pink.  I didn’t want to look like a bottle of peto on my first attempt at creating a monochromatic outfit.  Most of the outfit inspirations I came across were monochromatic neutrals.  However, I didn’t let that hesitation stop me from remembering fashion should be fun and it doesn’t matter what people think.

This is a great example of how you can incorporate fashion trends into the workplace while remaining professional and well put together.  In this instance I used two classic pieces to create a fun colorful work outfit.
