My grandma was the epitome of southern class and style.  She was always very meticulous about her clothing, shoes and accessories.  Grandma always had matching shoes and purses.  She always wore earrings and wrist watch. She kept her legs “greased” and never left the house without a slip underneath her dresses.  Most of all she taught me that details make the design when it comes to your outfit.

I’ve worn this basic gray a-line dress several times.  This time I figured I would channel my grandma and put in a little extra effort.  I added a flower pin, put on a waist belt, put my hair up and pulled out one of my non-everyday purses to complete the look.  Voila! I have a perfectly accessorized outfit for work.

I like to keep my accessories classic and simple at the office and not look too overdone.  My must haves are:

  • Belts (simple way to glam up any outfit)
  • Statement necklaces (I am addicted to them!)
  • Bracelet stacks (nothing noisy)
  • Flower pins/Brooches
  • Earrings (no chandelier or large hoops unless it’s casual Friday)
  • Scarves

Accessories are a fun and affordable way to dress up your favorite pieces.  The options are endless when it comes to belts, purses, jewelry and shoes.

What are your favorite accessories and how do you incorporate them into your work outfits?
