Faux leather is everywhere and I have given into this trend and purchased several pieces recently.  A faux leather peplum was on the top of my list after seeing this post from Ty of Words and Wardrobe.

This peplum was doomed from the start, have you ever tried on something and it was just a smidge too tight…I tried on a medium but felt like I needed a medium and a half.  Of course medium and a half doesn’t exist so I went up a size and felt confident about my purchase.  Like any shopaholic I forgot all about the dang top for a month!  Fast forward to yesterday, I am excited to wear my new peplum and new collarless blazer.  As soon as I put my blazer on over the peplum I felt like at 13 year old boy, this top wasn’t doing anything for me but I wasn’t giving up on it yet!  I had a particularly busy day at work and was on my feet for most of the day; the worst day to have on a top that doesn’t breathe, I felt like I was wearing a trash bag!

Sigh…not all trends translate well in real life. However I will not give up on this top; after a trip to the seamstress it should be perfect.

What current trend ended up falling flat for you in real life?

  2. Aw bummer!  I think it looks great though and I have been stalking leather peplums for a long time now too.  Unfortunately, I look like a 13 year old boy no matter what anyways LOL

You look great! I've yet to find the perfect faux leather top but Im still looking. I want a tshirt with a leather front cause I think it'll be kinda comfy.

  4. I can't wear peplum's at all, they make my wide hips look even wider.  No thanks.  I like your look.

  5. LOVE this look. Great pairing of the leather peplum top with the cobalt blazer.

  6. oh my gosh!! You look fantastic though. now you understand what I meant when I first tried on my pants. I was like where in the heck am I going to wear these in all this warm year round weather. had them on for 2 minutes and thought I would passs out..yes indeed!!! We both know I won't be restyling them anytime soon but I do like them.

  7. hehehe! I think you look super cute, but I know the feeling.

I think the top is gonna be hot.com with no jacket so you can show off your figure more…give it a chance!  oooh! and try it with a pencil skirt….and maybe a more cropped jacket, so you can see the waist.

Just found your blog!  I really like it and this look.  Interestingly enough…  I have several peplum tops that I purchased right as summer ended.  I "attempted" to wear one recently with a blazer layered on top but didn't think it was quite right.  After seeing this look, I think I'll give it a try.  Can't tell it is big at all btw.  Following you now.

  11. You look great!! I just recently jumped on the peplum trend and tops are fine but peplum skirts or dresses just don't do it for me.
