I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I took full advantage of my 3-day weekend and head up to D.C. to visit my besties. I had a great time, it was a much-needed getaway. I have been to D.C. several times in the past on school field trips. This time I had a chance to actually experience it as an adult and visit some well know local spots plus a few places I had missed out on in the past.

Statue of Frederick Douglas

Frederick Douglas Estate

Of course, I went shopping! We had some sweets! Who doesn’t love a good cupcake?

Only one outfit pic, head out for dinner and drinks.

Last but not least, I had to go visit the Obama’s

We also went to the National Geographic Museum to see the America I Am: The African American Imprint Exhibit, it was beautiful. No photography allowed. I also had the opportunity to visit Georgetown Cupcakes of the TLC television show DC cupcakes. We had to wait 25 minutes just to get inside, was it worth the wait? They were okay…but the show has definitely been great for their business!

Don’t you hate that? They look delicious, but they were just ok? Wow, that stinks! I had a similar experience with a Rachel Ray reccomendations for a restaurant, totally disappointing! Great pics from your trip, thanks for sharing!

Love DC, my second home! There’s so much to do and see there! My husband is from there and I lived there for a while. We go often since we still have family there and we go every year for our anniversary. We usually stay at the new National Harbor which is so beautiful. Check that place out the next time you’re up there!

    • I didn’t have the opportunity to go to the National Harbor, but I am planning a trip back during the summer.

  4. I’m so jelly right now!!! I need a vacay and would love to go to D.C. Glad you had a good time. I love those pants you have on! Info please. I did a post on my food blog about a similiar situation as the cupcake spot!

    • Thanks GP, the pants are from Express, the original Editors. I love the food blog! Can’t wait to read more reviews.

  5. I’m planning a trip to DC for fam for sprink break! I’ll be sure to check out these spots. Especially the Fred Douglas estate. I went thrifting looking for an old desk over the weekend only to find that they, even chest of drawers were over $300!

    • D.C. has so much to see. You should try craigslist…I found some great antique furniture that I am refinishing for my bedroom. Really great stuff and the pricing was fantastic.
