1. With all the blogging events out there how do you determine which ones to participate in and which ones to avoid?
There is tons of stuff out there to choose from but not everything is going to appeal to me or go with the overall vision of my blog. I try to stay away from anything that my readers/followers may not be receptive of. I also make sure that when I do participate in something I make it my own while still contributing to the community aspect of it.
2. Be honest, have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of some blogging movement/event for the wrong reasons? How did that turn out?
Yes I did when I first started blogging. I wanted to participate in the 30 day challenge that was going around. I didn’t have my footing yet in this blogging thing, needless to say after the 12th or 15th day I gave up, lol. Now that I am more focused on the content of my blog I am a little more selective. I currently participate in Friend Fridays and Every Body Every Wear. So far I am loving both and will continue to participate.
3. How do you give your own flair to a blog event while still maintaining the general mission and purpose?
No matter what I participate in I always try to make it my own. Again this is why I love Friend Fridays and Every Body Every Wear, you have free reign to participate while making the overall concept your own. I never want to compromise my overall style when participating in a blogger event. As long as I can make it Curvaceously Chic (that’s what I call my fashion style) I am all good.
4. When determining the best content for your blog what criterion do you keep in mind?
Is it in keeping with the overall tone and vision of my blog?
Do I have the time and resources to fully dedicated myself?
Will this be something my readers/followers would enjoy as well?
5. While everything will not suit your blog, how do you try and support your fellow bloggers who are participating in something worthwhile but not your style?
I will admit I have no interest in participating in a 30×30 remix challenge I have commitment issues, lol. But unlike what has been stated by others…”it’s boring, or I would probably stop reading that blog, and it’s not realistic”. I love to see everyone remix and I really look forward to seeing the different combination’s. I would not jump ship on a blogger because they wanted to challenge themselves and step out of the box to try something. The best part about these challenges is seeing how all the participants add there own flair. Unless its negative or offensive I have no problem being a cheerleader from the sidelines supporting others.
If I don’t care for it, then I don’t care for it. I don’t think I would need to make an announcement in the blogosphere belittling the creativity of others. I’m just saying…
