Winter Raven Photography Headshot Event Recap

At the beginning of the year, I attended the Winter Raven Photography Headshot event in West Palm Beach. Winter was an amazing host and this event was the perfect combination of black girl magic and networking. I had the opportunity to make new acquaintances and chat it up with a few of my favorite blogger boo’s. Not only did I get a fantastic headshot I also purchased Winter’s branding package that was being offered at a discount to anyone attending the event.  I’ll share those images in a separate post. As you can see I decided to go for a more professionally styled portrait that would represent me as a creative and management professional. Curves and Confidence is my baby but not my full-time job. I have a regular 9 to 5 that I kinda like, on most days, lol. Afterthoughts So I have a few takeaways from the event…

Preparing for the Perfect Headshot

I’ve been a blogger/influencer for the past 8 years and the one thing I’ve failed to do is take a professional headshot.  I have lots of amazing photos but none of them equate to a professional portrait.  Every time I’m asked to provide a headshot by an event organizer I cringe.  I usually skim through whatever I have that’s close to a headshot and provide that. With all that in mind, I started to think about what I needed to do to prepare for Winter’s headshot event to ensure my portrait reflects my blog and my personality.  I reached out to Winter and asked her to provide some tips I could share with you guys.  She suggested the following: Think about what you’ll wear.  Wear something…

Who What Wear – Ruffle Sleeve Fit & Flare Dress

| Dress – Target (Who What Wear) | Belt – Zara | Shoes – Nine West | Who What Wear I’ve been eyeing the Who What Wear Target collection since it was released in January of 2016.  Until now I didn’t really care for anything.  In my opinion, the designs have improved drastically.   Now I find myself heading to the Who What Wear section every time I’m in Target.  Unfortunately, it’s slim pickings every single time.   So I was really excited to find this simple black ruffled dress.  You can’t ever go wrong with a basic black dress.  I try to avoid wearing super trendy or flashy fabrics at work so this was an awesome find.  I debated with myself about the length of the dress and whether or not it was appropriate for work.  It’s slight shorter then I care for but it’s okay to show a little knee…
