Aloft New York Brooklyn | Hotel Review

In December I had the opportunity to stay at the Aloft New York Brooklyn.  Typically, I stay with family when I am home in NYC, however, I decided to treat myself to a hotel stay.  Of course, my family thought I was crazy for staying in a hotel instead of crashing with them.  However, I decided that my trips, even home, should feel like getaways.

Location

Located in Downtown Brooklyn, the Aloft New York Brooklyn is centrally located near shopping, food, and culture.  The loft-style hotel is minutes away from the A/C, 2, F, and R subway lines.  I commuted back and forth to my mom’s house and it was great only have to walk one block to catch the train at Hoyt Street.  Of course, I was thrilled to be within walking distance of H&M, Old Navy, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, The Gap, Ann Taylor, Forever 21, Macy’s, Express, Last Call and Century 21.  If you prefer to partake in the cultural aspect of Brooklyn the Brooklyn Academy of Music (walking distance) and Brooklyn Museum are both minutes away.

One of my absolute favorite spots, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, has the best views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge.  If you are down for sightseeing I recommend taking a quick walk to enjoy the great views.

Speaking of views, the view from my room wasn’t the best because of the construction happened across the street but none the less I loved being on the 14th floor.

Room Tour

I expected my hotel room to be tiny because that’s the general consensus when it comes to hotel rooms in New York City.  However, my King room felt much larger than it’s 285 square feet size.

My favorite feature was the oversized windows that were on either side of the television.  The mini bench and desk were perfect for spreading out all of my stuff and shopping bags.

The bathroom closet combo was open with a huge walk in shower, Bliss spa products and complimentary water and coffee.  Of course, I was all in when I saw that floor to ceiling mirror on privacy door to the shower.

My second favorite feature was the keyless entry that Aloft offered.  I was able to unlock my room door using SPG Keyless, in addition to checking in and receiving a room number.

Amenities

There were two outdoor locations that I was unable to enjoy fully because of the chilly December air. The first being the mezzanine patio connected to the pool that is shared by the Marriott next door would be perfect during summer months.

I also popped upstairs to check out Kimoto Rooftop Beer Garden to check out the view.  I wish I would have stayed to enjoy that DJ and the Asian-inspired vibe.

The gym was also located on the mezzanine level.  I had all intentions of working out during my trip but that didn’t exactly happen, lol.

The W XYZ® bar, Re:mixSM lounge, and Re: fuel by Aloft made the hotel lobby feel like an upscale lounge. The good vibes were present every time I made my way in and out the hotel.
